Kate earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Meredith College. She also attended East Carolina University, where she earned a teaching license in Special Education and a Master of Education degree in Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities. She served in many leadership capacities including chair for the Special Education department and School Improvement chair. Her teaching experience includes Special Education Math and Language Arts as well as Instructional Facilitator. Kate is the current principal resident at Willow Springs Elementary School. KATE IS A FELLOW IN THE WAKE PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The Wake Principal Leadership Program (WPLP) is a principal preparation program designed to train future leaders to serve in the Wake County Public School System. WPLP was modeled after the award winning NC State program, the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA). NELA earned the honor of being named an Exemplary Educational Leadership Program by the University Council for Educational Administration. A grant from the state of NC through the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) funds WPLP, including full scholarships for WPLP's Fellows.
